Crying over spilled milk

Apparently there is no use for this.  But today I cried for no earth-shattering reason.  Except....
OLIVER CUT A BALD PATCH IN HIS HAIR!!!
Literally down to the skin.
{Aside: he has cut his own hair before, and I think I cried then, too, but this time he did a far more drastic job}
And he has the most beautiful hair - as white as a kid's hair can get.  Possibly whiter.  People constantly comment on it, even as he plays with their own tow-headed kids.  Am I vain (as if somehow his hair is of my making)?  Maybe... OK, yes.  Maybe that would explain why I am so upset about the fact that we now have to cut it all off.  I might even have to wait a day or two to let some stubble grow back before we buzz it.  On a good note, at least it is freezing so that he can wear hats.  And he does like wearing hats.  So if you see him in a hat in our Christmas photos to be taken this week (of course), now you know.

My son is making me crazy.  I wish he had just spilled milk.
